Slapsgiving! by bishop david oyedepo

To say i am appalled, disgusted and completely and utterly put off my this video would be the understatement of this year!!!!! WOW! WOW! Just WOW! Who is this man masquerading as a man of God? What right does he have to damn someone to hell IN ADDITION TO SLAPPING HER. OMG...I am angry!!!!!!!!! This is my problem with RELIGION. What happened to the true meaning of Christianity? Followers of Christ. Never in a billion years would i imagine Jesus to do something like this and this man is supposed to be a "Man of God". I am utterly disgusted. I pity Nigerians who are blinded by religion and a LOT of them are. It's sickening. Nigerians are the most religious people in the world, yet they are they most judgmental, intolerant, hypocrites you would ever meet. 3/4ths of them have no clue what Christianity actually means. They are so caught up in religion, they become dumb and stupid and can no longer or refuse to think for themselves. I hate it. It's annoys me to no end.

I hate the religious excuses people use to justify hate and intolerance. I hate the hypocrisy. I hate the fact that the average Nigerian doesn't know what love means (not ROMANTIC love). Love, plain and simple. Love your neighbor as you love yourself. It's in the bible, right? They don't. So quick to judge and condemn, yet afraid to speak up when a "Man of God" does something so blatantly wrong. "Touch not my anointed". Indeed!! We are all God's anointed.

Most churches are BUSINESSES. Money making endeavors, with charlatans and smart crooks at the helm. Don't even get me started on that. I am disgusted by this video and i am prepared to ATTACK and CRUCIFY anyone who dares to write anything I consider nonsense in the comment section. Thank you.

*What the fuck! with Nigerians and witchcraft?!!!

  1. sad, to say the least. I'm curious as to the mental state of anyone that would attempt to justify such a behavior...

  2. Striving for religiosity is sadly not an exclusively Nigerian thing my dear. It's everywhere :(

  3. I agree with you Mwajim. In this post, i was specifically addressing Nigerians. The "Bishop" is Nigerian, no? I am Nigerian, so that's my frame of reference.

  4. Oyedepo hitting a female would give husbands/ boyfriends that hit their partner a reason to justify the act.

  5. I was just speaking about this the other day. The problem like you said is that they are RELIGIOUS. They religiously go to church, they religiously read their bible, they religiously pray just like they religiously brush their teeth without actually being spiritual. Their spirituality and being connected to GOD, becomes just an act rather than a true thing true thing. And it sucks because being a Christian seems like a joke to the rest of the world.

  6. I couldn't watch beyond the slap. He should be arrested for assault and aggravation. I have never thought he was a "Man of God" anyway.

What's funny is that Jesus never did any of these foolishness. He never HIT people. He never put on any airs.

    Smh.

  8. The truth has started shining its way to brigthness. Churches indeed are business palaces. May Allah help us out of darkness!

  9. I'm also appalled.
I wonder where this type of behavior is recommended in the Bible. I believe Jesus even gave demons an option as to where they would like to be cast. Remember the swine story, anyone??? And wasn't Jesus the dude who was chilling with prostitutes, tax collectors, and demon possessed?

Pastor Oyedepo's behavior is unacceptable. He should man-up and apologize to his congregation. Otherwise,as @adebsrk has said, this can signal to other pastors and the congregation that it is okay to abuse anyone they think is a witch.

  10. This is also my issue with a lot of Nigerian pastors and pentecostal churches, this godhood ascribed to their leaders. But the congregation is not without blame too. Did you hear them cheering and clapping him on? We are lost in Nigeria, I tell you, and until more people decide to take their destiny into their hands instead of escaping reality through the opium sold them by these charlatans, and ceding their individuality and decision making, the country is screwed.

Man of God, my big fat behind!

  12. "I pity Nigerians who are blinded by religion and a LOT of them are."- Enough said, I have seen so many "Justifications" for his action, it is sad what people find okay under the masquerade of religion.

Its crazy.. And his thugs are watching? I wonder what would have happened if she slapped him back? no be him find trouble?

  14. LOL-ing. I went to Covenant. This drama happened two years ago. Surprised people are only seeing it now. I just found the whole thing funny, actually. Given up on Nigerians.

  15. This is just sad and unfortunate...i am with adebrsk on this. People will now see it as a licence to be slapping women anyhow..

The world is coming to an end SOON!

  16. Totally uncalled for. lol @Ginger's "holy slap" phrase. mercy! Lord!.

  17. It's not just Nigeria the country that's going backwards, the churches are too. Don't you just love that word: 'slapsgiving'? It's the new 'alms' to dish out in generosity to the poor and downtrodden!
