Re: Not-Exciting

Where is the blogsville tatafo when you need her? Since she decided to go MIA, i guess i will fill in for her today.

Simply mee has complained that blogs are BORING these days. Say what now lady? I have taken it upon myself to help you out, sis as i have been quite entertained these last couple of days.

First of all, the ladies over at wives connection stay coming up with all kinds of ....erm dilemmas. LOL. I can't sometimes, i really can't. How do you remove the dark spots on your thighs so your husband can give you head aka eat you out?

I just think some of these women are beginning to get carried away. LOL. I felt for the lady whose husband has ED, i just had to say something. Yet you see people telling her not to let her husband use viagra as it is addicting and he will have to use it for life. Whatever med school these "doctors" went to, failed them and they need to ask for their money back cos they don't know shit about shit.

Then there has been the natural vs relaxed debate over at Myne's , then Ginger then Naijalines.

Naijalines has been giving me life. LOL. She has shocked and unshocked me. I'm like this lady ain't playing. Nah ah! She will cut you.

I believe in freedom of choice, people. Freedom of choice. I don't believe that relaxing your hair automatically equals self hate. Life is not that black or white. In sensitive issues like this (not sure why it is so sensitive but it is), i believe that there are less divisive ways to get your valid points across. Certain words are just inflammatory and no one is going to want to listen to you after that. They just zoom in on that word and you have lost them. However, i LOVE the fact that more of my black sisters are embracing the hair that comes out of their head, as is. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that. That is such a good thing and no one can dispute that.

Then there has been Oga Solo and his multiple marriages saga. Now, if only he was honest, this would have simply being a case of polygamy instead of bigamy. The last time i checked Polygamy is still a part of our culture. Dude is ugly sha and likes ugly women (Just saying). Lilian try small, but that's not what this case is about.

Drama!!!! I just be sipping my tea and reading. Beats reading medical stuff, that's for sure.

Lohi created a quinoa recipe for me (and someone else). I can't wait to try it. You guys should check out her food and photography blog. It's so pretty. I love her.

I have been very entertained o. You guys should keep it up.

When you know that all is light, you are enlightened.

I read that thing too about the black spots and hubby that won't go down and i'm not even sure i think that was real lol. There were like 17 difference questions mixed in there.

  3. Lol, that natural hair post was bound to bring gbese, some the beginning of times (in blogsville years) anytime someone mentions *kpim* about hair, it's finished.

I don't mind polygamy too much, both my grandfathers were polygamists as long as everyone is aware that that is the the set up then it's fine not secretly going to marry one random woman. "Oga Solo" is just mess. Did you see the "I still pee standing up" comment. Linda has the best comments hands down

  8. Yes, it is so boring nowadays because all I see are people who go around looking for whom to insult and air their personal vendetta, which lacks maturity!#just saying# :D

  9. did you change your background? reading from phone so not sure. nice shaa.

I wrote that post before I knew what was going on. good I didn't shaa cos I might have chickened out. A lot of fiery talk over hair. Sad that we women always look for division. imagine men fighting over shaved or not shaved.
The use of the word self hate was certainly interesting. no one wakes up and decides to hate themselves. we don't go around abusing anorexics for hating themselves how much more over hair. the thing tire me.

    1. Hmmm...Ginger, side eye at you;)
The anorexia analogy is not a good one within the context of this debate. One day you will understand what the self hate aspect is about. You may still not agree...of course.

    2. E ma pa mi o. No side eye me oo. You want me to melt?!

I thought my personal example was a classic example of self hate. Now you want to deny me that?*wails*

The slim model media image has been blamed mostly for young girls who are having body image problems. They didn't just wake up one day and say i hate myself. So too our love for sleek hair....maybe.
On another hand, self hate involves deeper psychological issues which makes me feel its a hammer being used on an ant in the case of hair.

      Delete
    3. LOL. I hear you and share your definition of self hate. I disagree on the hammer on ant, though. I'll tell you why. Hair is not just hair. I've often heard people say that and it's not true. If it was we'd all shave it off and be bald. Truth is: how we look and the messages we are fed about it (just like you said in your previous post) feeds into our self esteem and self image.

The women's rights movement had to burn bras to make a point about their rights (THIS is an example o, not an analogy) before my straight sisters start chucking their weaves at me, hehehe). My point is we have to go in hard sometimes to open up debate. If we all continue to say hair is just hair, we're just deluding ourselves. We also need to stop putting down everyone who tries to shed light on the virtues of natural hair for once. And if I say the hair on our head is superior to the one we end up with after adding a weave or relaxer, why do we have difficulty accepting that and why get mad? Are we saying our natural hair is not beautiful, that we hate it, that I'm lying because God gave us bad hair? Hmmm...these are serious questions o!

We are constantly bombarded with images of weaves and told this is the right look for a cool sistah. Why do we get rattled when someone is trying to do the same for our natural hair? Black women have issues about the hair on their head. They seriously do!

Now I'm not saying by force everyone must go natural. All I'm saying is that wella straight is not the only route open to us to manage what God has given us. There are plenty of options and having done 30 years of wella straight myself, I believe the best place to start with good management of hair is to learn how to better manage our natural hair and not to bombard it with chemicals all the time. Many people (like me until a couple of years ago) just relax their hair every 8 to 12 weeks without really giving it much thought. There's research and plenty of oral testimonies out there to show that constant chemical processing and weaves damage our hair (cue Naomi Campbell et al) There's also been some research indicating a link between fibroids and use of relaxer/chemical hair products in Black women. Sorry I don't have the link but if you google, you might just find it. I'm not trying to persuade anyone. We are all adults. But lets make our choices in the light of knowledge of how to care for ourselves and not in the darkness of ignorance. Madam Sting, sorry for the epistle o. Thanks to all who took the time to read and of course to you, Ginger:) Peace.

  10. I think I have found my new interwebs addiction! Choi! No more work be dat.

LMAO re "viagra can be addictive", I guess they would prefer a lifetime of bad sex. Na wa.

Re Relaxed vs Natural, people need to calm the hell down abeg! There are too many labels in this world to come and add one as inconsequential as "relaxed or natural". Your hair shouldn't define you! point! blank! period! There is a serious problem if you define yourself by your curl type or texture just as much as if you define yourself by your brand of Indian, Bohemian, Chinese etc hair!

  11. PS: Quinoa is amazeballs. My fave "Naija style" way of eating it is to eat it with Efo riro! tastes exactly like white rice and efo (my fave). Don't forget to wash/rinse your quinoa well. If you don't, it will be bitter!

    1. This is just annoying. Why would someone pick on a blogger's moniker to establish themselves come in new. Why not do their own hard work and earn their own name? They would rather steal a name someone has used to establish themselves for so long. Anyway, it is well. They will not reap where they did not sow.

    2. I saw it last year and was a bit baffled. I didn't want to draw attention to her and her blog, so I didn't bother myself with it. I was just glad I grabbed nigerianscorpio.blogspot.com while it was still available. She's a little crook, what can I say/do?
